Effect of air fan position on heat transfer performance of elliptical pin fin heat sink subjected to impinging air flow

چکیده

Heat rejection from electronic components by heat sink is still a viable cooling solution. The optimal design enables higher transfer performance. purpose of the present study to predict effectiveness elliptical closely spaced fins subjected impinging air cooling. fan main source air, then its position and direction with take role in work. Two positions location are studied. first where outside second case existed cut out template. So there one inlet four transverse outlets axial exit opposite flow inlet. Reynolds number were taken at range 3400-16000, was turbulent so k-ϵ model turbulence used as our choice simulate mean characteristics for conditions. base constant flux condition proposed between 10000–40000 kW/m2 keep temperature around 100 oC. Results contour lines depicted variation extended surfaces tips. comparison two cases results showed high difference Nusselts numbers indicated that performed better than case. experimental numerical good agreement not exceeding 2%.
